Our presenter line up includes weather and biodiversity experts Nate Byrne, Professor David Karoly and Dr Greg Moore.
Nate Byrne, is the weather presenter on ABC News Breakfast, meteorologist, oceanographer and science communicator. Nate will discuss the latest climate modelling and how it’s predicted to affect Melbourne’s weather.
Professor David Karoly is an internationally recognised climate change expert. David will explore the latest climate science and how we can help reduce the increasing risk of catastrophic climate change.
Dr Greg Moore is a member of the National Trust of Victoria’s Register of Significant Trees member and inaugural president of the International Society of Arboriculture, Australian Chapter. Dr Moore will discuss how Manningham’s changing climate is impacting local biodiversity.
Inspired Living Series - keynote speaker events
The Inspired Living Series - keynote speaker events showcases five insightful, not-to-be-missed evenings at the iconic Manningham Function Centre.
The series will introduce you to a diverse line-up of local and international keynote speakers offering unique insights on how we can all shift to a greener future.
Topics range from permaculture to sustainable fashion. Each speaker will inspire and motivate simple, positive lifestyle choices, connection to nature and growing a thriving community in the midst dynamic change.
Mind Calm will be facilitated by group therapists and is suitable for those who are new to meditation and people who wish to explore or extend their current practice.
- Discover what mind stilling methods work for you.
- Experience mindfulness.
- Learn breathing techniques.
- Practice different types of meditation.
This event has a series of four sessions.

Located on Doncaster Road between Westfield and the Manningham Council Civic Centre, MC2 is conveniently accessible by public transport.
There are ample parking spaces on site including 4-hour parking underneath the building. Access to level 1 via the lift or via stairs in the front foyer.
Are you covered for emergencies at home?
We are holding a home insurance workshop with Eastern Community Legal Centre (ECLC), a multidisciplinary legal service that works to prevent problems and support community resilience.
The session will cover important topics including:
- having an up-to-date insurance policy
- the right insurance amount for your home and contents
- what to look out for in your existing insurance policy.
Participants are encouraged to bring insurance policy documents for personal reference during the session.
It's free to register but bookings are essential.
Please note: this repeat session of the Home Insurance workshop will be held in Mandarin.

Tom Kelly Athletics Track
Tom Kelly Athletics Track is the only athletics facility in Manningham. As well as serving local residents through the junior and senior club structure, it also services schools within and outside of Manningham.

As part of our ongoing commitment to making sporting facilities more accessible we have reviewed the way in which the community use the Tom Kelly Athletics Track. We spoke to many users of the Athletics Track through our onsite consultation sessions and online survey.
After hearing your ideas, we developed the Tom Kelly Athletics Track Usage Plan.
The Plan was endorsed at the 31 October Council Meeting and implementation of the Plan is now underway.
Bookings
There is no public access to Tom Kelly Athletics Precinct during club/casual allocations.

Bring your dog
Off lead except 15 metres from a playground, barbeque or organised sporting event. Dogs are prohibited from the Tom Kelly Athletics Track facility.

Home Harvest Manningham is a monthly home gardening seminar series that will teach you how to grow your own delicious fresh food at home.
Gardens are the natural habitat for all types of insects – the good, the bad and the ugly.
Integrated Pest Management (IPM) aims to manage pests using a mixture of physical, cultural, and biological control methods, with low impact chemical being used as a last resort.
This session will cover:
- an introduction to Integrated Pest Management (IPM)
- being a detective – identifying the culprits
- beneficial insects versus pests
- using barriers and cultural strategies
- when to consider garden chemicals
- an introduction to companion plants to help control garden pests and diseases
- common garden pests and control options.

Karen Sutherland has a lifelong passion for growing her own food. In this seminar Karen will share with you her expertise in incorporating a bush tucker garden at your place.
This session will cover:
- the best bush food plants for gardens in Manningham
- which plants to pot vs those to plant in the ground
- basic growing information
- the basics of harvesting bush 'tucker'
- simple uses for both fresh and dried plants.
Start your passion for native edibles such as lemon and cinnamon myrtle, native thyme and sage, peppers, mints, fruits and berries.

At 2.4 hectares, Bullen Reserve is a large, diverse and well linked reserve close to Jackson Court Shopping Centre. Bullen Reserve contains an area of significant native vegetation, a playground and a path network perfect for walking and exploring.

Bullen Reserve was upgraded with a new playground in 2013. Play opportunities cater for a wde range of ages. There are picnic tables shaded by large trees near the playground.

Stutt Reserve has a fun playground that includes a single rocker, climbing frame, junior unit with slide and swings. The reserve is attractively landscaped and has seating and steps that connect the park to the busy Stutt Avenue local shopping centre.

This program is a partnership with Active Manningham, Access Health and Community, and Manningham Council.
Beverley Reserve is located close to Tunstall Square shopping centre. The highlight however, are the playful life-size toadstools ‘growing’ under the boughs of a big shady oak tree - the perfect place for a fairy party or a detour on the way home from shopping or school.
Other play opportunities include a track glide, monkey bar and swings. There is also a pedestrian link to Talford Road
